The Property

The original parts of the castle date all the way back to 1614 when it was built by the O’Reilly family (who later changed their name to Nugent). In the late 18th century a significant Georgian addition was made to the property, comprising of the two grand rooms that overlook the lake through some of the tallest windows to be found in a private Irish House.

Outside

The castle is set in 320 magical acres of parkland, lakes, gardens and grassland. In addition to 4 acres of walled gardens, a fishing and boating lake, and woodland walks, there is also an 18-hole golf course on the property. Enjoy cookouts in outdoor dens and let the children enjoy their own log cabin in the grounds.

• In-house cuisine: A selection of recommended chefs will be organised according to your party’s requirements. Meals are served in the grand dining room, seating up to 18 on the banquet table and a further 8 at a second table if required. Up to 60 people can be catered on special occasions.
• Eating out: Local restaurants can be found in the towns of Trim, Navan, Kells and Mullingar.

Getting there

• On the map: Situated an hour from Dublin, off the N52 between the villages of Delvin and Clonmellon.
• By car: One hour from Dublin airport. There is also an hourly bus service from Dublin to Kells (15 minutes away) and a frequent service to Athboy (7 minutes away).
• By train: The nearest train station is Mullingar, 30 minutes from the property.
• Helipad: Yes, there is suitable landing for several helicopters.

Out and About

• In addition to the onsite golf course, there are several courses within 30 minutes, including Headfort (Kells), Knightsbrook (Trim), Trim Golf Club, Mullingar Golf Club and Delvin Castle.
• Nearby Westmeath is famous for its lakes and fishing, and the lakes of Mullingar are also varied and plentiful.
• There are several equestrian centres based within 30 minutes, and foxhunting can also be arranged with the local packs.
• Massage, holistic therapies and workshops can be organised according to your requirements.
